Join Paul in a music, meditation, medicine workshop utilizing traditional instruments of South Asia, including sitar, sarangi and tanpura.  An immersive sonic experience will be coupled by a workshop and discussion of the power of raga to connect us to elements of nature and open our hearts to the healing power of music from an eastern perspective.

Bio:

International performing artist Paul Livingstone plays sitar and a colorful array of stringed instruments including fretless guitars and requintos of his own design. Focused in the improvisational realm of Indian classical music and his own original "ragajazz chamber music," Paul has performed on two Grammy Award winning records and his newest CD release, Ahimsa, dedicated to the legacy of nonviolence and features his own compositions with Arohi Ensemble, released in 2016 on Innova Records.

Paul has over 30 years of experience in the rhythms and ragas of in India and the US studying under Pt. Ravi Shankar, Amiya Dasgupta, Rajeev Taranath, as well as John Bergamo & Charlie Haden among other masters of jazz music, Persia, West Africa, Latin America and Java and Bali. He has performed throughout the US, South East Asia, Latin America, Europe & India.  Paul has worked with diverse virtuoso artists such as Swapan Chaudhuri, Kenny Burrell, Prince Diabate, Hossien Alizadeh, Ali Jihad Racy, Eliseo Parra, Miroslav Tadic, the Liän Ensemble, and popular artists Ozomatli, Ricky Kej, Alanis Morissette, Ruben Albarran, Juan Gabriel, Beck, and the Los Angeles world/jazz/folk collective Build an Ark.
